Torsion springs are a type of helical spring that provide a radial (rotating) force with either one or both of its legs. They either apply torque or offer resistance to externally applied torque. Most torsion springs are usually close wound (coils touching) either for stability, or to maximize space efficiency. However, when an application demands low friction or a certain area to be filled without the use of spacers, a torsion spring can be designed with a pitch or space between the coils.
Our experienced engineers can aid in the designing, prototyping and manufacturing of custom torsion springs with a multitude of leg configurations.
Custom Torsion Spring Applications
Torsion Springs, also know as radial or angular springs, can be used in many applications and can be manufactured from a variety of materials and finishes. At Peninsula Spring, we can produce any type of torsion spring to meet your specifications. They can be found in almost anything from simple, old machinery to complex medical devices to space applications. Regardless of the industry, there is always a high demand for engineered, custom torsion springs.
