Torsion Springs

Torsion springs are a type of helical spring that provide a radial (rotating) force with either one or both of its legs. They either apply torque or offer resistance to externally applied torque. Most torsion springs are usually close wound (coils touching) either for stability, or to maximize space efficiency. However, when an application demands low friction or a certain area to be filled without the use of spacers, a torsion spring can be designed with a pitch or space between the coils.
